Allowing section drop-ins vs. selling daily admission passes

Updated on

Who is a drop-in?

  • A drop-in is a participant who joins a section without signing up before the start time on PARKS DIRECT.

What are daily admissions?

  • A daily admissions pass gives customers access to a facility for a day.

Pros
Cons

Section Drop-Ins
  • Counted toward a section’s maximum participants (12 out of 15 registered, which allows three drop-in spots)
  • Only need one report for a section, List/Course revenue list
  • Career staff can add drop-in availability without assistance from the Help Desk
  • Calculates attendance properly

  • Can only be sold one hour before class start times (and throughout a class)
  • Still needs an Activity Sections to be created in order to support a “Drop-In Only” program
  • Not sold for sections that are full
Daily Admission Pass
  • Sold at any time
  • Easier to process additional sales outside of scheduled class times
  • Can be re-purposed for “Drop-in Only” programs

  • Calculates attendance at the time of sale (not associated with class times)
  • Not counted toward a section’s maximum participants
  • Need to run multiple reports to collect attendance/revenue numbers (ex. section roster report and daily pass report)
  • Career staff can’t create daily admissions alone, requires assistance from the Help Desk
