Symptom:
The credit card terminal is completely black and appears to be powered off.
Cause:
The unit is most likely unplugged. The terminal plugs into a power outlet, and then again near where it connects to the back of the computer.
How to Fix:
Check the power cable to ensure the cable is securely plugged in.
Check all connections to see if the power supply is plugged in at both the power source (wall or power strip) and at the connecting point near the USB port.
Test the power outlet to ensure the outlet works by checking it with another device.
Check for loose connections: There is a middle connecting point between the cable that goes into the back of the credit card reader and the adapter that plugs into the wall/power strip. Ensure both cables are securely connected to this middle point.
