PARKS DIRECT Has a New Look

It seems like everything has changed, but don't worry! PARKS DIRECT has the same core functionalities. The majority of the changes are to the visual layout and style of the interface. Let's explore those changes!

Expand or collapse content Updated Login Screen

The login screen has a new look! Notice the new shade of blue, new logo, and the sign-in portal is now more front and center.  No new password is required. You can continue to sign in as normal.

Old UI:

After the login screen, if VIC is not installed, an error message warning the user appears.

  • In the old UI, clicking continue acknowledges the message and continues sign in.
  • In the new UI, to acknowledge VIC is not running and proceed with logging in, select Login without local resources

Expand or collapse content Home Screen Redesign

Your first time logging in might be a shock!

The old design had a dark background and used various colors for the different modules and operations. The new design has a white background and uses a very minimal color palette. Also the colorful main ribbon usually at the top of the screen is now gone!

Don't panic! Remember: Same functionalities, new design.

The main ribbon that was once stationery at the top of the screen is now nestled away in the new collapsible side menu to the left. Favorites are now customized by you and shortcuts can be added directly to your home screen.

There is now a home icon. Just click on the home icon located at the top left corner of the screen, and it'll take you back to your home screen.

Expand or collapse content VIC Icon

The VIC icon looks different. Previously, the icon was either red or green to indicate if VIC was successfully connected. Now, the icon is a chain link. If it is not connected, there will be a red line through the icon.

Expand or collapse content New Tab & Screen Cache

At the bottom of the menu panel you'll notice 2 new toggles. Previously, these operations were executed by right-clicking a program. Now you can just simply click on the desired toggle.

Expand or collapse content New Search Bar Feature & Nestled Drop Down Menus

After expanding the menu you'll notice some new features. A search bar feature has been added as well as some space saving drop down menus.

Expand or collapse content Favorites

Favorites are now customized by you and can be added to your home screen for easy access. In the menu panel, click on the star next to the desired operation and a shortcut will appear on your home screen.

There is no limit to the number of favorites you can have. The first 5 favorite operations will appear as the top row of your favorites (as well as in the left sidebar), but this can be rearranged by clicking the edit icon.

Tabs for each running operation are now located at the to top of screen.

Expand or collapse content In-App Help

Previously in the old UI, In-App Help used to be enabled  by clicking the small "i" icon at the top right of the screen. In the new UI, first click on the Support icon and then enable the In-app help toggle.

Example for when In-App Help is enabled:

Expand or collapse content Log Out

The logout icon has a new location at the bottom left of the screen. When logging out in the old UI, you had options to either "logout and keep the session" or "logout and end session." When logging out in the new UI, you will only need to click on the logout icon, and the system will automatically log you out and end the session.

There is no "logout and keep session" anymore. To achieve this, simply close the web browser without logging out. Opening the PARKS DIRECT page again will require a sign in and if there is a session open for that user, it will continue.
