An ODBC connection must be installed on any computer one wishes to use external reporting tools, such as Crystal Reports, with data from the RecTrac database. This article will walk you through installing the required Progress driver and adding the ODBC connection in Windows.

1. Get the Necessary Files
  1. Navigate to the Shared Folder > Management > Software > Progress 11.3 (RecTrac ODBC)
  2. Copy the 113_00 folder to your desktop.
  3. Create a folder named VSI3 at the root of the C: drive and copy the .PEM file to this new folder.
2. Install the Progress Driver
  1. Navigate to the 113_00 folder on your desktop.
  2. Right-click on Setup.exe.

Data sources are not shared between the two versions so if you will be using both 32bit and 64bit applications the connection will have to be setup twice. For reference, Crystal Reports is a 32bit application and the 32bit version of the ODBC program is located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.

  1. Go to the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) OR open the program per the note above.
